About Debbie

Let’s Reach Your Goals Together

I’m Debbie McCool, I am a qualified counsellor dedicated to providing compassionate support and guidance to young people and adults who may be facing challenges at this time, perhaps there has been a significant life event, or you want to explore why you are feeling the way you do about certain situations. Whether you prefer in-person sessions at my counselling room, online sessions, or telephone consultations, I create a safe and confidential space for you to explore your emotions and experiences.

We can work together to build self-confidence and empower you to live the life you truly desire. Rather than giving you advice, my approach revolves around active listening and gentle support, encouraging you to uncover fresh perspectives and insights. Together, we will explore your concerns and work towards finding the solutions that align with your unique circumstances.

In addition to running my private practice, I serve as a lead school counsellor in a large secondary school. With over 20 years of experience in primary and secondary education, I profoundly understand young people’s challenges. I have also worked extensively with parents and staff, gaining valuable insights into the dynamics of the educational environment.

Volunteering at a Hospice has further enriched my experience, allowing me to support patients, family members, and caregivers dealing with grief and loss. It has reinforced my commitment to offering compassionate care and creating a nurturing space for healing.

I provide support to individuals of all ages, including children, young people, and adults. I specialize in a wide range of issues such as anxiety, social anxiety, attachment, anger management, grief, depression, sadness, general anxiety disorder, gender identity, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, emotional regulation, panic attacks, illness, school transitions, school-related anxiety, and school refusal.

I also work with parents who would like to develop a deeper relationship with their children.
We will explore together the relationship you want to have with your children and how to create that. We will uncover insight into your current family dynamics and work to build both your self-awareness and awareness of your children, why certain behaviours occur, how to respond to challenges differently and how to maintain all of this throughout your parenting years.
You can expect empathy and a non-judgmental approach from me. To ensure that we are a good fit, I  complete a 20 minute phone assessment with you before sessions begin. This gives us the opportunity to connect, understand your needs, and determine how we can work together effectively.

As a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I adhere to their ethical framework, prioritizing your well-being and confidentiality. Additionally, I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, providing you with an added sense of security.

Thank you for visiting my website, and I invite you to reach out for your free consultation. Together, we can embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and growth.

“The meaning of Apricity is The warmth of the Sun in winter and to me this feeling of warmth makes me feel safe, connected and calm. A hint of new beginnings about to come and of renewed hope. I hope that Apricity offers these things to you too.
